In recent days it was revealed by various sources to the Cuban Baseball Digest that the Las Tunas will be the representative of Cuba in the new Serie de las Américas that will begin next month in Nicaragua. This was officially announced by the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB).
It was previously known that the Leñadores would represent Cuba in the Baseball Champions League of the Americas (BCL), which will take place from April 8 to 13, 2025 at the Alfredo Harp Helú stadium, home of the Diablos Rojos de Mexico City.
Summer League champions (LMB) in 2024. This BCL Americas will be a six-team tournament in which the hosts will participate, as well as the champion clubs from Cuba (Las Tunas), Curacao, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and the United States. Let us remember that the event was going to be held in 2024, but was postponed.
The decision that Las Tunas participate as a representative of Cuba is totally sensible, since it was a tournament in which they were going to participate in 2024 for having won the National Series during that year. The team from the eastern province, repeated as champion of recent Serie National (63).

Matanzas, champion of the last year’s Liga Elite (winter tournament), already had the opportunity to attend the Barcelona Baseball Cup in the Catalan Sports Week in 2024. The Third Edition of the Elite League was postponed to March and if the series is going to be played is still a big unknown due to an energetic crisis crippling the country.
Las Tunas will be the first representative for Cuba in the inaugural Serie de Las Américas that was launched a few months ago by the newly created Baseball Association of the Americas (ABAM). The tournament will be held in three stadiums: Nacional Soberanía (Managua), Roberto Clemente (Masaya) and Rigoberto López Pérez (León).
Cuba (Las Tunas) will make its debut on Friday, January 24 against the locals at the National Soberanía Stadium in the capital. A day later they will face Panama at the Roberto Clemente and on the 26th they will return to Managua to play against Curacao. The remaining two games will be in the capital against Colombia and Argentina on the 27th and 28th respectively. The semi-finals will be held on January 29 and a day later the final will be held with the two semi-final winners facing off.
