The Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico is in its last week of the regular season. There are several teams that continue to fight to enter the postseason and need their best performances to achieve it. The league this Monday the announced its weekly awards winners and Ciudad Obregón’s Odrisamer Despaigne was chosen as Pitcher of the Week.
Although the native of Havana only had one outing during the week, on last Thursday, December 19, however this was masterful against the Algodoneros de Guasave. On that occasion he pitched all nine innings of the game, only allowing three hits allowed, no runs, struck out eight and walked a batter.
That victory represented his fifth on the current campaign, in which he also accumulated five losses. It was also the third consecutive quality outing for the right-hander. The hurler is seventh in wins (5) and in strikeouts (53), eighth in ERA with 2.90, in addition to being third in innings pitched with a total of 77.2 and has only allowed one home run on the campaign.
In his two seasons with the Yaquis he sports a 9-7 record, 2.54 earned run average and has struck out 113 batters in 156⅓ innings pitched with Mexican squad. Despaigne also saw action with the Liga ARCO in last year’s Serie del Caribe in his hometown of Miami reinforcing the the league champion Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
