Roenis Elías tossed six innings of two-hit, one-run ball during Monterrey’s 9-1 thrashing of Mexicali in the Liga ARCO. The left-hander also fanned eight and only yielded a walking during his outing. Elías sports a 2.45 earned run average on the campaign.
Also in Mexico Yasmany Tomás laced a third inning two-run single to pace Los Mochis to a 7-3 win over Ciudad Obregón. Roel Santos also helped the cause with a double in three runs scored in the trips to the plate.
In the LBPRC Adeiny Hechavarría and Preston Palmeiro combined for two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored to due their parts in Carolina’s 5-1 win over Caguas. The infielder now hits .134, while the outfielder saw his average rise to .222 on the season.
