The best Cuban hitter in the Major Leagues, Yordan Álvarez, hasn’t started his usual offensive game with Houston’s batters. The “Ebony Tree’s” slow start has been a source of analysis by plenty of experts, and at the end of today’s game, the Las Tunas native was asked by the colleague Javier González about his slow start.
For 2025, Fangraphs predicts he could hit 34 home runs and drive in 100 runs, a feat that has been a regular occurrence during his career. His on-base percentage is estimated to finish at .395, while his batting average is predicted to finish at .301. These projections would once again position him as one of the candidates for the American League MVP.
“It’s no secret that I didn’t have a good Spring Training, and now I’m trying to make all the adjustments to regain a compact swing to make quality contact. I’ve been in this situation before and I’ve been able to get through it thanks to working with the coaches, and we’ve improved my swing I will finish the season with good numbers. The same thing almost always said when we’re down offensively, the team can’t string together wins, but when we recover, everyone knows what we’re made of, and we become one of the toughest teams in the MLB.”
