Lourdes Gurriel Jr homers in a DBacks’ victory. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Lourdes Gurriel blasted his third homerun of the season, an eighth inning two-run shot to cement an Arizona 6-2 win over the Miami Marlins. The Cuban slugger has now also knocked in 10 runs on the young campaign with the desert snakes.

Ryan Fernández notched his second hold of the season after tossing a scoreless inning in relief to help secure a St. Louis 4-1 victory over the Astros. The Cuban-American hurler saw his ERA descend to 7.71 on the season.

Yennier Cano has yet to allow a run this season. In last night’s action the Cuban right-hander secured his third hold off the season after pitching a scoreless inning in which he fanned a batter in Baltimore’s 9-1 thrashing of Cleveland. The flamethrowing righty has now tossed 7⅓ scoreless frames to open the season and posted 68 holds during his time with the Orioles.

Randy Arozarena laced a run-scoring first inning double to open up the scoring Seattle’s 5-3 triumph over the Reds. The flashy outfielder is now hitting a solid .273 over the last seven games. Arozarena figures to be a big part of the team’s offense in his second season with the Mariners.
