Diosbel Arias collected four hits in six trips to the plate and drove in a team high six runs including a sixth inning grand slam to lead Monclova to an 18-1 thrashing of Saltillo. The Cuban infielder also scored four times and upped his average to .333 on the campaign.
Vladimir Gutierrez tossed six innings of shutout ball in which he only allowed six hits and fanned three to do his part in Puebla’s 5-0 shutout of Campeche. The Cuban right-hander also did not issue a walk during the contest.
On the Campeche side fellow countrymen Yunesky Maya though saddled with the loss was also impeccable on the hill pitching five innings in which he only allowed an earned run via six hits and struck out a batter to leave his first start with a sterling 1.80 earned run average.
Yadiel Hernández swatted two longballs and in total knocked in four runs, while also scoring twice in Dos Laredos 10-7 loss to Durango. The outfielder is now hitting an imposing .500 and has driven in a team leading six runs on the season.
