Yandy Díaz’s third inning sacrifice fly proved to be the difference in Tampa’s 1-0 victory over San Diego. The first baseman also swatted a hit on the evening to watch his average rise to .250 on the season.

In a losing cause Adrián Morejón continues to be a force out of the Padres’ bullpen. In yesterday’s action the left-hander tossed a scoreless inning in which he fanned two of the three batters he faced. His ERA fell to a sterling 2.19.

Miguel Vargas laced a run-scoring fifth inning singles, but the White Sox still fell to the Athletics 7-6. The Cuban infielder knocked in his eighth run of the season and is hitting a solid .292 in his last seven games.

Andy Pagés had a perfect evening collecting three hits in three trips to the plate including two doubles, but the Dodgers where blanked by Pittsburgh 3-0. Pagés has been red-hot over his last seven games hitting a robust .391.
