Yosver Zulueta makes his season debut for the Reds.

Cuban right-hander Yosver Zulueta made his season debut yesterday with the Cincinnati Reds in which he tossed 1⅓ in which he allowed a run and walked a batter during the team’s 11-6 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Zulueta saw action last season in the big leagues with the Reds he saw action in 12 games and in 16⅓ innings in which he posted a 4.96 earned run average. The hurler also had a 1.35 WHIP and fanned 20 batters over that span.

The hard-throwing righty also saw hitters post a .245 batting average against him and look for him to eat up plenty of bullpen innings after the demotion of Lyon Richard. Zulueta also gives the Reds a fresh arm that bullpen sorely lacked. The Cuban become the 27th player from the island to see action in MLB this season.
