Aroldis Chapman notched the 58th win of his career after tossing a scoreless inning in which he allowed a hit and struck out three of the four batters during Boston’s 7-6 win over the Braves. The left-hander from Holguín, Cuba has now fanned 25 batters in 17 innings of work this year.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr swatted two hits in four trips to the plate and knocked in three runs to do his part in an 14-12 loss to the Rockies. The Cuban outfielder is now tied with Andy Pagés for the lead amongst his countrymen in runs batted in with 27 on the campaign.
Andy Pagés continues to swing a hot bat to start the season. The slugger hit a three-run first inning bomb, his ninth of the season in the Dodgers’ 11-9 defeat at the hands of the Angels. Pagés who now hits .288 on the season is making a good case for an All-Star Game selection.
