Raidel Martínez earned his 26th save of the year after tossing a scoreless inning of relief in the Yomiuri Giants’ 1-0 win over the DeNA Stars at the Tokyo Dome. The Pinar del Río native has now racked up 31 consecutive scoreless appearances out of the bullpen to open up the season and maintains his ERA at 0.00.
Raidel Martínez tied the Central League record for consecutive scoreless appearances since the start of the season, a mark set in 2016 by his former Chunichi teammate, Shinji Tajima. The hurler has also fanned 33 batters on the season.
Guillermo Heredia went yard for the third time on the season, a third inning solo-shot to pace SSG’s 2-0 blanking of the Hanwha Eagles. The outfielder also scored a run on the day and saw his average rise to .287 on the season. Heredia was a key re-signing during the offseason, but injuries have hindered his impact this campaign.
