In the first game of the 2025 NPB All-Star Series, Cuban star left-hander Liván Moinelo delivered a flawless performance, by tossing two scoreless innings on just 20 pitches. The southpaw also allowed a hit and fanned a batter during his outing.
The highlight came in the fourth inning, with two outs, when Moinelo decided to throw to the right side. He faced Dominican Sandro Fabian and dominated him by getting him to popup to the infield, thereby putting on a spectacular display at the Kyocera Dome.
Raidel Martínez, who started the All-Star Series for the Central League, retired all three batters he faced in sequence during his inning of workto lower his ERA to 0.00. The right-hander became the first closer to the start a game in the series since 2011, when Hitoki Iwase, the all-time leader in saves in NPB, did so. The Central League fell 5-1 to the Pacific League. Game two of the 2025 NPB All-Star Series will be played tomorrow, Thursday, at Yokohama Stadium.
