Aroldis Chapman notched his 19th save of the season after striking out the only batter he faced to helped secure the Red Sox’s 8-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins. For the left-hander it was the 354th save of his career and he now sports a miniscule 1.29 earned run average on the season.
Andy Ibáñez swatted two hits including a run-scoring fifth inning single as a pinch-hitter during the Tigers 12-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ibáñez is hitting a solid .333 since his return from the minor leagues.
Yoán Moncada laced a sixth inning two-run single in two trips to the plate and also scored on an occasion to do his part in the Angels’ 8-5 triumph over the Rangers. The Cuban infielder has now driven in 24 runs on the season. His average also rose to .224.
