Néstor Cortés debuts in a San Diego win. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Although he was not the pitcher of record Néstor Cortés made his debut with the San Diego Padres in which he allowed two earned runs via three hits in 4⅔ innings of work. The left-hander also struck out three in the Friars 3-2 win over the DBacks.

José Iglesias also helped out the cause with a hit in three at-bats and drove in the go-ahead run with a ninth inning to pace the team’s victory. The infielder now hits .234 and has knocked in 35 runs on the season. Adrián Morejón was the pitcher of record after pitching two scoreless innings to notch his ninth victory of the campaign.

Romy González swatted two hits in four trips to the plate and also knocked in two runs via a first inning double in Boston’s 7-3 loss to Kansas City. The Cuban-American infielder saw his average rise to .305 and has also driven in 38 runs on the campaign.

Although the Braves fell to the Brewers 5-4 Daysbel Hernández tossed a scoreless inning to watch his ERA descend to 2.18 on the season. The right-hander from Pinar del Río, Cuba has only allowed six earned runs in his last 30 innings pitched.
