Roenis Elías earned his fifth win of the season in his team’s 5-1 victory over the TSG Hawks in the Taiwan Professional Baseball League (CPBL). The game took place at Taitung Stadium and was attended by 5,357 fans. The Cuban hurler tossed six innings, allowing five hits but only one run. He retired four batters via the strikeout and only issued one walk. He also threw 92 pitches to the plate, 64 of which were strikes (69.6%).
The left-hander has gradually improved as the regular season has progressed, all of this on a team that is not among the league’s top teams. In the CPBL this season, Elías has made 17 appearances in 2025, all as a starter. Over that period, he has a balance of five wins and eight losses. His victories have come against TSG Hawks (3), Rakuten Monkeys (1), and CTBC Brothers (1).
In 100.1 innings (sixth), he has allowed 100 hits and 54 runs (42 of them earned), for a solid ERA of 3.77 (13th in the league). He has fanned 79 batters (tying him for fifth with Mexican Humberto Castellanos of the CTBC Brothers) and 22 walks. He also sports a WHIP of 1.22 and opponents have hit .257 against the southpaw from Guantánamo, Cuba.
In the KBO Rubén Cárdenas went yard for the seventh time on the season, a solo-shot in the seventh inning and also scored three times to do his part in Kiwoom’s 13-12 over NC. The Cuban-American slugger is now hitting .258 on the campaign.
Guillermo Heredia also went yard in the Korean Baseball Organization to account for the only run in SSG’s 6-1 loss to the Samsung Lions. The outfielder from Matanzas has now homered six times and hits a solid .315 on the season. Heredia has also driven 26 runs in 60 games this year with Korean squad.
