After posting a 1-1 record and a 3.33 ERA for the Águila de Veracruz of the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol in three starts, Miguel Romero has signed with Leones del Caracas as first reported by the colleague Georgeny Pérez. The right-hander was released by the Tiburones de La Guaira after posting a 8.58 ERA during his time in the circuit last winter.
Romero then made three starts with the Gigantes de Rivas in the Liga Nicaragüense del Béisbol Profesional notching a win over that span. In 14 innings pitched in the LBPN the hurler had a 1-1 record, 3.86 earned run average and fanned nine batters. After struggling in the LVBP found his niche in the Nicaraguan Winter League.
The Cuban finished the winter with Mayagüez of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente, but did not accompany the team to the Serie del Caribe in Mexicali. Romero has been trained hard this offseason in Puerto Rico and has looked good on the mound tossing a fastball that has topped out at 95 mph.
