Luis Danys Morales notched his first victory in the majors after tossing five innings of five-hit, one-run baseball in which he also fanned five batters to secure the Athletics 7-2 victory over the Angels. Morales is the youngest Cuban-born starting pitcher to earn a win in MLB since José Fernández in 2014 and now also sports a 1.86 earned run average on the season.
Aroldis Chapman got the last out of the game, the only batter he faced during Boston’s 7-5 win over the Marlins to secure his 22nd save of the season. For the left-hander it was 357th save of his career and his ERA also descended to 1.16 on the campaign. Chapman is having a career year in 2025.
Adrián Del Castillo knocked in three runs via a fifth inning double and a seventh inning two-run homer to do his part in Arizona’s 10-7 loss to the Rockies. The Cuban-American catcher who also scored a run on the day has now hit two homeruns and saw his average rise to .239 on the season.
