Adrián Morejón notched his 12th win of the season after tossing 1⅓ innings of scoreless relief in which he also fanned two batters to secure San Diego’s 7-4 win over the Mets. The left-hander tied the victory mark for a San Diego Padres reliever in a single season and saw his ERA descend to 2.11 on the year.
Yandy Díaz swatted two hits in as many trips to the plate, including a first inning run-scoring single to drive in Chandler Simpson and do his part in Tampa Bay’s 2-1 victory over the Bluejays. The infielder saw his average rise to a solid .299 on the season.
Yariel Rodríguez gave up a run for the losing Jays via two hits during an inning of work in relief. The Cuban right-hander also walked a batter and saw his ERA rise to 3.10 on the campaign. Though he had an off day the hurler has had a successful season out of the pen for the Canadians.
