Yandy Díaz continues to make his mark in the final stretch of the 2025 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Cuban is putting up numbers that place him as the best hitter from his country currently in the MLB system. His performance this September has been nothing short of insane.
Last week, Díaz set career highs offensively, earning him a spot as the American League (AL) Player of the Week. The Cuban led hitters across the league in AVG, OPS, OBP, and hits. Díaz is having the best performance of his major league career, as his numbers reflect. Over his last seven games, the infielder has posted an astronomical .591 batting average with 13 hits in 22 at-bats. He has scored five runs and knocking in four runs. The slugger also hit a home run, which was his 100th career hitter in the Major Leagues.
The native of Sagua La Grande, Cuba has set a career high with 25 home runs (so far), surpassing the 22 he had in the 2023 season, when he also won the AL Batting Champion title. Díaz also tied the record for most hits in a single season, 173. He also set another career high with 83 RBIs, surpassing the 78 RBIs he had in his 2023 season. The first baseman still has several games remaining where he can expand on these numbers.
