Maikel Azcuy, a Cuban-born player and the all-time home run leader in the British National Baseball League (NBL), has been named head of the European division of A & F Sports.
Azcuy played for years in Britain’s top league, where he became one of the most productive hitters in its history. He holds the NBL career records with 45 home runs, 322 hits, and 273 RBI.
He won the 2015 Triple Crown and was a two-time MVP in 2017 and 2025, as well as a five-time league champion. He led the league in home runs outright in 2010 and 2012, and tied for the league lead in other seasons. He also led the NBL in RBI in 2012 and from 2014–2017, and topped the league in batting average in 2015 (.467) and 2017 (.500).
Azcuy also appeared for Team Great Britain during the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, where he doubled and scored in a 13–0 win over Pakistan.
In 2021, Azcuy became the first Cuban player inducted into the British Baseball Hall of Fame.
As part of his new role with A & F Sports, Azcuy will oversee the agency’s European operations and support the development of players across the region.
