Randy Arozarena collected a hit in three trips to the plate including a solo-shot in the eighth inning of Toronto’s 13-4 win over the Seattle Mariners to close the series to 2-1 in favor of the pacific coasters. Arozarena saw his average rise to .176 on the postseason and leads all Cubans with 12 playoff homers all-time.
The outfielder also scored twice on the day, walked and stole a base. Arozarena now hits a .299 in 147 trips to the plate in the postseason and has driven in 19 runs over that span. The slugger could be a key cog in Seattle’s offense if his bat heats up.
The only other Cuban to see action on the night was Toronto’s Yariel Rodríguez who tossed an inning in which he gave up two runs via the longball and fanned a batter to watch his ERA ascend to 10.13 in his first postseason. The right-hander has not been good with his control walking four batters in 2⅔ innings pitched during the playoffs.
