Yadir Drake’s bat leads Mexicali to an Opening Night win. (+Cuban Winter League Report)

Yadir Drake had a perfect evening at the plate including a first inning run-scoring double to lead Mexicali in their 5-1 win over Jalisco. The experienced slugger also scored a run and stole a base on the evening to start the season hitting a perfect 1.000.

Raynel Delgado collected three hits in four trips to the plate including a sixth inning RBI single to do his part in the Águilas Cibaeñas 4-3 win over the Gigantes del Cibao on Opening Night in the LIDOM. The Cuban infielder opens the season hitting .750.

Also in the LIDOM, Víctor Labrada swatted a hit in three trips to the plate and scored a run during Licey’s 4-3 win over their arch rival Leones del Escogido. The speedy outfielder opens up the season hitting a solid .333. The native of Havana had a successful debut in the toughest circuit in the Caribbean.
