Armando Álvarez went yard for the second day in a row, a first inning grand slam amongst his three hits on the day during Licey’s 10-5 loss to their cross-town rivals, Leones del Escogido in the LIDOM. The Cuban-American infielder now hits a robust .381 on the season.
In the LVBP Julio Rodríguez tossed a scoreless inning in relief during the Navegantes de Magallanes 4-3 loss to the Bravos de Margarita. The Cuban left-hander has been a key reliever for the Venezuelan squad tossing 4 innings so far this season without giving up a run.
In the Liga ARCO Yadir Drake collected two hits in three at-bats, including a first inning run-scoring double during a Mexicali’s 2-1 loss to the Jaguares de Nayarit. The slugger now leads all Cubans this winter in runs batted in with 15 and also in stolen bases with seven.
Also in México Oscar Colás knocked in his first run in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico with a fourth inning single to do his part during the Algodoneros de Guasave’s 5-4 win over the Venados de Mazatlán. The outfielder saw his average rise to .154 on the campaign.
