Infielder Ernesto Martínez Jr.  will be activated this Friday and will make his debut this season. Martínez Jr. confirmed to us yesterday via a confidential source. The Cuban infielder has been one of the top prospects in recent Minor League seasons, and his professional career is on a steady rise.

Martínez recently entered free agency and previously belonged to the Milwaukee Brewers organization. The prospect. has already accumulated eight seasons in the Minor League system and has excelled at every level. During the 2025 regular season, he played at the Triple-A level with Nashville and compiled a .255 batting average in 80 games played this season. Martínez swatted 67 hits in 263 at-bats, including 13 doubles, two triples, and six home runs. He drove in 40 runs and also scored 40 times. Although the slugger didn’t have his best season compared to previous years, but he continues to prepare for new challenges in his professional baseball career.

Martínez shared the Triple-A regular season with fellow Cuban Raynel Delgado. Now he joins him again as Cubans in the Dominican League, but this time on opposing teams. Delgado is playing for the Águilas Cibaeñas and is making a good impression. Meanwhile, Martínez Jr. will try to support the Estrellas Orientales. Martínez Jr. now has one main objective: to secure a new contract that will lead him to an organization that can facilitate, or at least provide, the opportunity to reach the Major Leagues. His performance in this 2025 LIDOM season will surely serve as a benchmark for establishing a new contract with an MLB franchise.
