The addition of Noelvis González to the Cuban coaching staff for international events has been God send. The ex-Holguín manager in the Serie Nacional now lives in Italy and has become a rising star in the Cuban coaching ranks to the point that most of the Cuban faithful thinks he should have been the team’s manager for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
As the current bench coach for Cuba in the upcoming WBC, González has become a student of the modern game applying many of today’s advanced metrics to his training plans and many of the players on the island have started to rave on how it has made a world of difference in their preparation for games and even their performance.
Cuban catcher Andy Cosme had this to say about how Noelvis González has made a world of difference in their preparation for upcoming international events, ” We’ve had a few good days because the team is really coming together, united, the management is excellent, and I’m very happy with all the coaches and Noelvis (González).”
“He has taught us a lot, he’s brought us together, he’s united us, and he’s been giving us good advice. He helps us, he helps us in every way, from the very first minute of training. He helps us because he doesn’t over-guide us and training with him is always positive, everything is always positive with him.”
