JC Escarra singled in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Águilas 7-6 win over the Leones del Escogido. The Cuban-American catcher collected two hits on the night and is now hitting a solid .293 and has knocked in six runs on the campaign.
Orlando Martínez collected three hits in five trips to the plate, including two homeruns while also driving in three runs to do his part in Culiacán’s 9-4 victory over the Charros de Jalisco. The outfielder has now homered five times on the season tying him for the league lead in that statistical category.
In Nicaragua Maikol Pérez launched his first homerun in a winter league, a two-run shot during the ninth inning of the Tigres de Chinandega’s 14-6 loss to the Leones de León. The Cuban outfielder also scored on the evening and saw his average rise to .333 on the campaign.
Also in APBN Yassel Pino swatted his second homerun of the season during a Tren del Norte’s 5-2 loss to Rivas. The slugger has now driven in nine runs on the season leaving him second in the league in that statistical category.
