Leonys Martín swatted his league leading ninth homerun, a first inning two-run shot to do his part in Los Mochis’ 7-0 blanking of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico. The Cuban slugger saw his average rise to .264 on the season and has also now driven in 23 runs on the season.
Also in México Yadir Drake drove in two runs via singles in the first inning second inning to lead Mexicali in their 12-1 thrashing of Guasave. The “Black Panther ” has now knocked in 30 runs on the season leaving him third in the Liga ARCO in that statistical category.
In the LVBP José Ramón Rodríguez tossed 5⅔ innings of seven-hit, two-run ball to notch his third win of the season during Anzoátegui’s 5-4 victory over the Tigres de Aragua. The right-hander also fanned four batters on the evening and saw his ERA descend to 3.69 on the campaign.
In the LIDOM and although he did not factor in the decision Norge Ruiz threw 5⅓ innings in which he gave up a run on a hit during the Leones del Escogido’s 6-5 loss to the Gigantes del Cibao. The right-hander from Camagüey, Cuba also fanned a batter and saw his ERA descend to 3.18 on the season.
