Odrisamer Despaigne is mounting a candidacy for the pitcher of the year in Mexico based on his latest outings. Last night the Cuban fight threw 5⅓ innings of four-hit, two-run ball to notch his fifth victory of the season in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico.
Despaigne also fanned four in Ciudad Obregón’s 5-2 victory over the Tomateros de Culiacán. The native of Havana also saw his ERA descend to 3.10 on the season and has given up two earned runs or less in three of his last four outings.
Also in the Liga ARCO Yoanner Negrín tossed six innings of scoreless baseball in which he only yielded four hits and fanned five during the Cañeros de Los Mochis 4-3 win over the Tucson Baseball Team. The crafty right-hander saw his ERA descend to 3.72 on the campaign.
