Third baseman Bryan Ramos was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, February 1, according to a report on social media by journalist Francys Romero. As part of the trade, the Chicago White Sox will receive cash in return. The Orioles opened a roster spot for Ramos on their 40-man roster by designating utility player Weston Wilson, a recent addition to the team, for assignment.
The White Sox had taken a similar action three days earlier with the Cuban player, in what ended up being his farewell to the franchise. Ramos signed with the White Sox on July 2, 2018, for a $300,000 bonus. He then began his journey through the minor leagues, where he climbed the ranks to become one of the team’s top prospects.
In late 2023, he saw action in the Arizona Fall League, a circuit that brings together many of the top talents on the MLB farms together for a tournament. He made his MLB debut in 2024, where he played 32 games at that level, leaving a modest average of .202 (99-20).
In 2025, his time with the White Sox major league team was limited to four games, batting .167 (2-for-12). He spent most of the time with the Triple-A affiliate, and there, despite hitting 16 home runs and driving in 51 runs, his overall numbers were poor, with a .216 batting average and a .705 OPS in 105 appearances.
