Cuba announces their team for the Serie de Las Américas.

With the Serie de Las Américas slated to kick off on February 5th, Cuba announced its 28-man roster for the upcoming tournament. With the turbulent political climate in Venezuela the South American country decided not to play in the Serie del Caribe and will host this year’s event.

Aside from Venezuela, Panamá,Curaçao, Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Argentina will also be competing for the tournament title. The event will be hosted in two stadiums , which will be Estadio Monumental in Caracas and Estadio Forum in La Guaira. It will be a Round Robin first round with the top four teams qualifying for a semifinal and the winners of that phase facing off in a final.

Defending champion Panamá (Águilas Metropolitanas) will be back to defend their title, while last year’s runner-up  Nicaragua (Leones de León) will also be in attendance. Cuba will open up the tournament against Nicaragua on February 6th at 1:30pm at the Estadio Monumental.
