Yiddi Cappe is released by the Marlins.

The Marlins have released Cuban infielder Yiddi Cappe. The infielder was Miami’s most expensive international signing of 2021 , receiving a $3.5 million bonus, and reached the Double-A level. Furthermore, he served as Cuba’s second baseman in the World Baseball Classic.

In the 2026 WBC the native of Havana was second in batting average for Team Cuba hitting a middling .250, swatted two ddoubles, a triple and knocking in two runs, which also placed him second on that squad in that statistical category.

Cappé played in 62 games last year at AA, A+ and Rookie ball is hitting .278 with 7 longballs, 32 runs batted in and is slashing .326/.394/.722 for the Marlins’ minor league affiliates. The 23-year-old infielder could be picked up by another organization when he clears waivers based in his showing in the World Baseball Classic.

Cappe played 373 games on the farm with the fish he slahed .250/.296/.354/.650 with 11 home runs and 53 stolen bases, but that was propped up by earlier success in the low minors. At this young age, Cappe could still pursue another opportunity in baseball and probably get one. He’s never been in a different organization

Will another MLB organization give him a second chance?
