Yordan Álvarez goes yard in an Astros’ loss. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Yordan Álvarez swatted his first longball of the season in five at-bats, a titanic fifth inning solo-shot off  ex-teammate Yusei Kikuchi during Houston’s 6-2 loss to the Angels. The Cuban slugger now has 171 homeruns in his storied career.

For the victorious Angels, Zach Neto collected two hits during four trips to the plate, drove in a run via a fifth homer as well and scored twice to watch his average rise to .200 on the early campaign. The Cuban-American shortstop is coming off back-to-back 20-20 seasons.

Adrián Morejón tossed two scoreless innings of one-hit ball in his first appearance during a San Diego Padres 5-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The left-hander fanned a batter with a sinker that reached 101 MPH and leaves his first appearance with a 0.00 earned run average.
