Jorge Soler’s swats a homer, but the Angels fall to the White Sox. (+Cuban MLB Report)

Jorge Soler went yard for the sixth time on the season in the seventh inning of the Angels’ 8-7 loss to White Sox, while also driving in two more runs via a sacrifice fly and a groundout. The Cuban slugger has now driven in 23 runs leaving him first on his team in this statistical category.

Miguel Vargas also homered for the victorious White Sox in seventh inning as well to aid the cause. Although the infielder hits a miniscule .208 Vargas swatted his sixth longball of the year to go along with 14 runs batted in and a solid .798 OPS. Vargas is on pace to have his best season as a professional if this offensive output continues .

Ryan Fernández notched his first victory of the season after tossing two scoreless innings in relief in which he fanned four hitters during the Cardinals’ 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cuban-American hurler saw his earned run average descend to 1.59 on the campaign.

Nick Castellanos laced a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to do his part in the Padres’ 9-7 triumph over the Chicago Cubs. The native of Miami upped his average to .154 and has now driven in seven runs on the season. Castellanos broke a slump that saw him hitting .083 over his last seven games.
