Sal Stewart belted his ninth homerun of the season, a three-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning and also knocked in two runs via a single in the sixth to lead Cincinnati in the 9-2 victory over the Tigers. The Cuban-American slugger has now driven in an MLB leading 29 runs on the season.

Cionel Pérez tossed a scoreless inning in relief during the Nationals’ 6-3 win over the White Sox in which he also fanned a batter. The Cuban left-hander also notched his second victory of the season and watched his earned run average descend to 7.62 on the year.

Adolis García collected a hit in five trips to the plate and drove in a run via a first inning triple to do his part in Philadelphia’s 8-5 triumph over the Atlanta Braves. The power-hitting outfielder is now hitting a solid .308 over his last seven games.

Andy Pagés drove in three byways of a fourth inning single and a sixth inning double to be the catalyst in the Dodgers’ 12-4 thrashing of the Chicago Cubs. The outfielder is tied for second in the National League with 24 runs batted in and also saw his average rise to .337 on the season.
