Raidel Martínez earned his eighth save of the season in the NPB this Wednesday during the Yomiuri Giants’ 4–2 victory over the Hiroshima Carp—played before 42,142 spectators at the Tokyo Dome—the Pinar del Río native retired the ninth inning without allowing a run, yielding no hits and striking out one batter.

This marked the right-hander’s 220th career save in Japan’s top-tier professional baseball league. He currently ranks 11th all-time in this category, sitting just eight saves shy of tying Masahide Kobayashi for 10th place..

Martínez currently ranks second in saves in the Central League for the 2026 season, trailing José Quijada (Yakult)—who has accumulated 10 saves in an equal number of appearances—by two. Martínez now holds a 3.24 ERA (8.1 IP; 3 ER), has tallied eight strikeouts, and is holding opposing batters to a .200 average.

Guillermo Heredia knocked in three runs via a sixth inning single and a seventh inning double to do his part in the SSG Landers’ 14-2 thrashing of the Hanwha Eagles. The outfielder watched his average rise to .261 and has now driven in 22 runs on the campaign in the Korean Baseball Organization.
