Nick Martínez tossed 5⅓ innings of seven-hit, one-run ball in which he fanned four batters to notch his fourth win of the season in the Rays’ 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The Cuban-American righty saw his earned run average descend to 1.70 on the season leaving him fourth in the major leagues in that statistical category.
Nick Castellanos launched his second longball of the season, a two-run ninth inning shot to tie and send a Padres 3-2 win into extra innings. The native of Hialeah, Florida saw his average rise to .192 and saw augmented his RBI total to 13 on the season.
Randy Arozarena drove in a run via a first inning single in three at-bats on the day, but Seattle still fell to the White Sox 2-1 in extra innings. The outfielder has now driven in 13 runs and sports an above-average .783 OPS on the campaign.
