Cuban power-hitter Félix Stevens is demolishing Frontier League pitching. Of his 12 hits in the independent circuit, 10 have gone for extra bases (7 homeruns, 3 doubles). The former Chicago Cubs prospect is drawing heavy interest from Asian leagues following his scorching start in independent baseball.
During his time in the minors with the team from the “Windy City” the native of Havana, Cuba slashed .252/.347/.477/.824 with 77 homeruns and 265 runs batted in, this includes being named the Southern League’s Player of the Week in July of 2024. Stevens was released in 2025 by the organization.
This winter he played with the Gigantes de Carolina of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente hitting .136 with five runs batted in over a nine games span with the ballclub from the Caribbean island. His output in that league does not necessarily represent his immense talent.
It is only a matter of time before Stevens signs with either a club from the Mexican or Asian circuits. The Cuban is a member of the Spanish national team for international competitions. The slugger originally signed with the Cubs for 300K in 2019. Stevens is represented by Gladys Alonso of A&F Sports.
