Yordan Álvarez knocks in three, but Houston falls to Pittsburgh.

Yordan Álvarez swatted two hits and knocked in three runs via a two-run homerun in the first inning and run-scoring single in the ninth inning during four his trips to the plate in the Houston Astros’ 10-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cuban slugger now leads all of his countrymen and the American League in roundtrippers with 21 on the campaign.

Raisel Iglesias recorded his 11th save of the season on Tuesday during the ‘ 4-3 victory over the Toronto Bluejays. The native of Isle of Youth has now converted each of his last 28 save opportunities. This time, he allowed two hits but preserved the one-run lead and victory, while also recording a strikeout on the evening. Iglesias now has 264 career saves and sits alone in 36th place on the all-time MLB saves list.

Miguel Vargas laced a run-scoring single that brought two runs to the plate in third inning, but the Chicago White Sox still fell to the Minnesota Twins 6-4. For the Cuban slugger it was his only hit on the evening and has now also driven in 40 runs on the campaign. Vargas with his 15 homeruns and .869 OPS is making a good case for an All-Star Game berth.

Nolan Arenado collected a run batted in via a seventh inning two-run double over his four at-bats on the evening during the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cuban-American infielder also scored a run on the evening, now hits .269 and has driven in 30 runs on the season.
