Miguel Vargas swatted three hits in five trips and knocked in four runs via a pair of two-run homeruns in the fifth and ninth innings during the White Sox’s 9-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The slugger from Havana is now second amongst Cuban with 15 longballs.
Nick Fortes laced a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth in three trips to the dish , but the Tampa Bay Rays still fell to the Detroit Tigers 10-9. The Cuban-American catcher broke a 3-for-17 slump over his last seven games and has now driven in 13 runs on the campaign.
Nolan Arenado went yard for the eighth time on the season in the seventh inning over three at-bats to do his part during the Diamondbacks’ 4-1 victory over the Lis Angeles Dodgers. The Cuban-American infielder is hitting a solid .277 over his last 15 games.
Jorge Soler collected three hits in five at-bats and drove in two runs via an eighth inning triple in an Angels’ 9-8 loss to the Colorado Rockies. “El Crudo” as he is known by the Cuban faithful has now driven in 33 runs on and hits .221 the season.
