The Cuban slugger upped his American League lead in batting average to .331 and he has also now driven in 46, placing him third amongst Cubans in MLB.
Carlos Rodón tossed six innings of four-hit, three-run ball during which he fanned seven batters to help secure a New York Yankees’ 8-4 victory over Cleveland. The Cuban-American lefty notched his second win and watched his earned run average descend to 3.19 on the campaign.
Cionel Pérez pitched a scoreless inning during which he fanned three of the five batters he faced during the New York Mets 9-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Pérez has been virtually unhittable since coming to the Mets posting a 1.69 earned run average and striking out seven in four outings with the ballclub from Gotham.
