Richard Guasch promoted to Double-A.

Cuban right-hander Richard Guasch turned in an outstanding relief appearance on Sunday at the High-A level, where he had been assigned as part of his rehabilitation from a back injury. Guasch threw 23 pitches (18 strikes) and generated seven whiffs, while also flashing his 96 mph fastball during the outing.

Following the game, the Cuban right-hander was promoted to Double-A (Chesapeake Baysox), where he posted a 2.74 ERA over 46.0 innings (14 earned runs) during the 2025 season with the Detroit Tigers minor league affiliate.

The 28-year-old Santiago de Cuba native, a member of the Baltimore Orioles organization, pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in his team’s 4-2 loss while on rehab with the Frederick Keys. He struck out all five batters he faced during the outing. In November of last year Guasch signed a minor league deal with the Orioles that included an invitation to Spring Training,

The righty from Santiago de Cuba also saw action in the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol during 2025 with the Rieleros de Aguascalientes posting a 2-0 mark, 1.98 earned run average and  securing two saves in 13 games. Guasch recently signed a contract to pitch for the Estrellas Orientales of the LIDOM for upcoming Winter League season. Guasch is represented by Gladys Alonso of A&F Sports.
