Yordan Álvarez laced three hits in four at-bats, including a fourth inning grand slam to lead the Houston Astros in their 6-4 win. The Cuban slugger also scored a run on the day and tied the franchise record in career grand slams with seven. Álvarez also leads all of MLB with a 1.046 OPS.
Nick Fortes collected two hits in five trips to the plate and drove in two runs via a fifth inning single to do his part in Tampa Bay Rays’ 10-4 thrashing of the Kansas City Royals. The Cuban-American catcher has knocked in 17 runs and now hits .257 on the season.
Randy Arozarena drove in a run via a sixth inning single amongst his two hits on the day and also scored twice to aid the cause in Seattle’s 8-3 win over Los Angeles Angels. The speedy outfielder also swatted a double on the evening and now hits .283 on the year.
Sal Stewart went yard for the 16th time on the season, a two-run shot in the first inning to account for Cincinnati’s only two runs in the team’s 7-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. The native of Miami now leads all rookies in runs batted in with 59.
