Félix Stevens has been selected to participate in the 2026 Frontier League All-Star Game, one of the premier independent baseball leagues in the United States and Canada. The native of Havana is represented by Gladys Alonso of A&F Sports.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, in Florence, Kentucky, and will be preceded by several festivities, including the always-popular Home Run Derby. The event will feature teams representing the Midwest and Atlantic Conferences.
Stevens will suit up for the Atlantic Conference squad and, making the honor even more impressive, was voted in as the team’s starting third baseman. He will also be the only Cuban-born player participating in this year’s All-Star festivities.
His performance at the plate with the New Jersey Jackals has been so dominant that, had it not been for a mid-June injury, he would likely be leading the entire Frontier League in batting average. The slugger is currently hitting .378 (56-for-148) through 38 games, while scoring 36 runs and driving in 37 RBIs. He has showcased tremendous power, collecting 16 doubles, one triple, and 13 home runs.
Stevens has also been efficient on the bases, stealing five bases in six attempts (83.3%). As has often been the case throughout his career, however, his aggressive approach has resulted in more strikeouts than walks, with 17 walks compared to 37 strikeouts. Even so, his .446 on-base percentage, .764 slugging percentage, and 1.209 OPS are outstanding, highlighting how quickly he has adapted to the pitching in the Frontier League.
Stevens, the nephew of former Cuban slugger Bárbaro Cañizares, spent six seasons in the Chicago Cubs minor league system (2019, 2021–2025). During that span, he blasted 77 home runs and drove in more than 250 runs, but an excessive strikeout rate—roughly one strikeout every 2.7 official at-bats—prevented him from reaching the level of development the organization had hoped for.
