Yadir Drake reaches 900 hits in the LMB and signs with a Winter League Ballclub.

In the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna’s 9-1 home loss to Caliente de Durango, Cuban outfielder Yadir Drake reached 900 career hits in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).

The Matanzas native continues to add to his legendary LMB career, now with Unión Laguna. Drake went 3-for-4, including a double, and scored the team’s lone run.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Drake lined a double to right field for the 900th hit of his LMB career. Of those, 45 have come with Unión Laguna, including 81 hits during the 2026 season. Earlier this year, he collected 36 hits with the Leones de Yucatán before being traded.

Yadir Drake returns to Mexicali.

Cuban outfielder Yadir Drake will return for his second season with the Águilas de Mexicali in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico after the club officially announced his return on social media. Drake will enter his 11th season in the league and is currently the only Cuban player on the team’s roster.

After a successful first campaign with Mexicali, “Black Panther” will be back for another year. He was also the first foreign player confirmed by the club, reflecting the confidence the organization has in him. Drake posted excellent numbers during his debut season with Mexicali, setting personal bests in triples (2), home runs (8), RBIs (45), stolen bases (16), and walks (32).

He also finished with a .274 batting average and a .352/.440/.791 slash line across 67 games, the highest game total of his career in a Mexican winter league season. His strong performance earned him a spot with the Tomateros de Culiacán for the Caribbean Series, where the club finished as runner-up after falling to the Charros de Jalisco in the championship game.
