Before the All-Star Game his spoke with MLB Network and had this to say about representing Cuba in the midsummer classic:
You are one of two White Sox hitters to reach 20 home runs and at least 10 stolen bases before the All Star break. You’re also the fifth Cuban born player to represent the White Sox at the All Star game. What does it mean to be able to represent Cuba out here especially because the White Sox have a rich tradition with Cuban players.
Yeah, I know that. I mean it means a lot for me.You know I know you guys know my dad played in Cuba and you know all what you know baseball means for my family and you know for sure I was I always looked to MLB and you know see José Abreu, [José]Contreras meaning also like all these guys to represent Cuba and you know giving me the opportunity to come here and play too and you know, so also for me when I have this opportunity this means a lot for me to you know represent Cuba.
