Yennier Cano signs a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension.

Yennier Cano re-upped yesterday with the Baltimore Orioles extending his contract for two more years and 7.5 million dollars. Cano will remain under contract for two more seasons as he continues to strengthen his legacy in the majors. The team also has an option for 10 million in 2029.

The Cuban right-hander has established himself as a reliable presence in the bullpen throughout his MLB career. In 246⅓ innings pitched he has an 11-17 record, 3.76 ERA, 16 saves and is amongst the MLB leaders over the last three seasons with 91 holds. He has also fanned 235 batters over that span.

Earlier this year I asked about his setup role with the team he had this to say,” Well, that’s the job I’m doing out of the bullpen. Thank God. I have been pitching the seventh or eighth inning and have had good results. For right now I am enjoying that role. I also asked him about a possible closers role and he responded, “Well, if the opportunity presents itself—of course.”

On the campaign he sports a 2.15 earned run average in 37⅔ innings pitched to which he also struck out 32 batters over that span . Cano also has a 0.93 WHIP and opponents hit .194 against him this season. Without a doubt Cano is a key component to the team’s bullpen and will be locked down for the next few years at a very good price.
