Carlos Rodón tossed five innings of two-hit, one-run ball and retired seven batters via the strikeout to lead the New York Yankees in the their 5-1 victory over the San Diego Padres. For the Cuban-American lefty it was his fifth victory on the season and the southpaw also lowered his earned run average to 3.09 on the campaign.
Miguel Vargas knocked in a run via a fifth inning single, his only hit in four at-bats during the White Sox’s 6-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The Cuban infielder is now hitting a blistering .346 for the team from the Windy City over his last 15 games.
Zach Neto swatted three hits in five trips to the plate and drove in a run on a fifth inning single to do his part in the Angels 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Neto has now knocked in 67 runs on the season and is one stolen base away from his third straight 20-20 season.
