After a dull start to the season with wood Dayán Viciedo has been sent by the Chunichi Dragons. In 32 at-bats to open the season although he was hitting a solid .281 Viciedo had only two extra base hits and no runs batted in, causing his manager to suggest the ball club send him down for the next ten days to find his swing.
In today’s action for the ball club Raidel Martínez pitched a scoreless ninth for Chunichi in which he fanned two of the three batters he faced in the Dragons 5-2 victory over the Hiroshima Carp. “The Skyscraper ” from Pinar del Río, Cuba notched his third save on the season and has yet to give up a run in three innings pitched on the campaign.
On the farm for the Nippon squad prized prospect Pedro Pablo Revilla connected on a grand slam and also swatted a single in his four trips to the plate for team’s second squad in their loss to the Hashin Tigers’ minor league club 15-5. On the day the infielder drove in four of his squads runs and is hitting .232 with two longballs and nine RBIs this campaign.
