Miguel Vargas went yard for the first time this season in the second inning of the Dodgers’ 7-3 victory over St. Louis. Vargas homer helped seal LA’s triumph and he now has eight runs batted in on the campaign.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr collected two hits in four trips to the plate, knocked in a run and scored on another occasion to due his part in Arizona’s 9-1 drubbing of the Rockies. The youngest of the Gurriel clan is hitting .305 with seven RBIs in his last 15 games.
José Barrero continues to knock in runs in a limited amount of at-bats. The shortstop smacked two doubles and drove in two runs in the Reds 11-7 win in a shootout with Oakland. The infielder has now driven 11 runs in a miniscule 65 trips to the plate this year.
