Soler homers, but Miami is swept by Atlanta (+Cuban MLB Report)

Jorge Soler broke out of a slump that saw him hitting .148 in his last seven games with three hits, one of them being a two-run bomb in the in the first inning and also drove in a total of three runs on the afternoon. But the Marlins were swept at home by the Braves 6-3. For the slugger it was his sixth long ball of the campaign.

Randy Arozarena and Yandy Díaz both went yard for the eighth time on the season to account for two of the three runs scored by Tampa in their victory over Pirates by a 3-2 count. Díaz is now hitting a robust .327 on the year, while Arozarena and his 29 RBIs place him second in MLB in that category.

Yennier Canó has now started the season hurling 14 scoreless innings. In last night’s 13-10 win by the Orioles over the Royals the flamethrowing right-hander threw two innings where he only gave up a hit and fanned three. On the season the native of Ciego de Avila, Cuba has struck out 16 and sports a sterling 0.14 WHIP for the birds. Canó also notched his first win of the year to along with two saves and five holds.
