Roberto Roilan Portuondo notches his first victory in Japan. (+Asian League Report)

Roberto Roilan Portuondo tossed seven scoreless innings where he gave up two hits and struck out four. The Shinano Grandserows blanked the Ibaraki Astro Planets 7-0 in the independent Baseball Challenge League.

Portuondo has fanned 10 in two starts and saw his ERA fall to 2.77 on the campaign. The right-hander was unleashing a 96 mph fastball during his start and has been under the observation of a few Nippon League teams.

In the NPB Liván Moinelo allowed a hit and pitched a scoreless inning in relief striking out two hitters in the process. The lefty lowered his ERA to 1.38 on the season in the SoftBank Hawks’ 3-1 win over the Seibu Lions at the Fukuoka Pay Pay Dome.

In the KBO Guillermo Heredia collected two hits and knocked in three runs in five at-bats in SSG’s 6-3 win over Lotte. The outfielder from Matanzas, Cuba leads the KBO with a .348 batting average and is third in the circuit in RBIs with 31.
